This song is about the Graveyard King and the townsfolk of a fictional New England town called “Hallows End.” The wealthy elite of the townsfolk have been living a life of lavish excess and have treated the working class as though they were their servant. However, they soon find out that this mere legend, (the story of the Graveyard King that Elder Nan had forewarned the town of) was no legend. The Graveyard King has risen and he has come to seek vengeance. Only one payment will suffice—not jewels, fancy clothes, or diamonds—but the bones of the wealthy tyrants of Hallows End.
